LAGOS – Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 presidential election.
Sanwo-Olu described Tinubu’s victory at the APC presidential primary as well deserved and a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership by millions of party faithful across the country.
The governor, in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, also commended APC members for the peaceful conduct of the primary election.
He praised the party leadership, state executives and the National Working Committee for organising what he described as a credible and well-coordinated exercise.
“The adoption of direct primaries also demonstrates our party’s commitment to strengthening internal democracy by giving members a stronger voice in the selection process,” he said.
The governor also lauded Tinubu’s economic reforms and leadership style, stating that the President had demonstrated courage in making difficult decisions aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy.
“Over the last few years, President Tinubu has taken important decisions aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the foundation for long-term growth.
“At critical moments, leadership requires courage and the willingness to take decisions that will move the country forward,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that Nigerians would continue to support Tinubu’s vision for sustainable growth and national development.
“I am confident that Nigerians will continue to support a vision built on courage and sustainable progress.
“The journey continues, and together, we will keep working towards a nation that gives every citizen a fair opportunity to succeed,” he said. (NAN)
