Court grants ex-JAMB Registrar, Ojerinde N200m bail

Abuja (Precise Post) – A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail at N200million for a former Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Adedibu Ojerinde, who is charged with alleged diversion of about N5.2billion public funds. Justice Obiora Egwuatu admitted Ojerinde to bail in a ruling he delivered after listening to arguments from lawyers to the defence and prosecution. Justice Egwuatu noted that bail is at the discretion of the court, adding that there is no evidence before him why the defendant should not be admitted to bail. He ordered the defendant to produce two sureties in like sum, whom must be residents of Abuja and show evidence of tax payment. One of the sureties, the Judge held, must be a Professor of a university while the other must own landed property with title documents in Abuja, which must be verified by the court along with operatives of Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC). Gov Sule Flags Off State Health Insurance Scheme, As 700 Persons Benefit In Awe

By Chris Udochukwu Abuja (Precise Post) – Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has flagged off the state health insurance scheme, with the distribution of identity cards to over 1200 beneficiaries. This is just as Engineer Sule equally flagged of the second phase of the free medical outreach earlier started by his administration in its first 100 days, with 700 persons benefiting from the comprehensive basic healthcare, as well as 15 surgeries to be conducted free of charge. The Governor flagged off the twin events in Awe, headquarters of Awe Local Government Council, on Tuesday. While recalling that over 5200 persons benefited from the first exercise, which treated glaucoma, carried out cataract surgery and distributed free eye glasses, Engineer Sule said the second phase is further demonstration of the commitment of his administration to improve healthcare services in the state. Army To Demand Identity Cards From Nigerians

Abuja (Precise Post) – Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai has said that Nigerians will henceforth be requested to carry identification cards to prove their identity to the military as the Nigerian Army begins quick profiling of citizens under a new military exercise, codenamed: Operation Positive Identification. The exercise, according to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, is to uncover those with questionable identities. He said the operation will also stop dislodged and fleeing insurgents from accessing peaceful zones. Buratai, who gave the hint during the launching of routine military exercises, Crocodile Smile IV, Egwu Eke IV and Ayem Akpatuma II, said the operation, which is currently taking place in the Northeast, will be extended to other parts of the country.
