Governor Oborevwori vows to demolish structures built on waterways

ASABA – The Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has vowed to demolish structures built on waterways to facilitate unobstructed water flow.

Oborevwori who noted that blocked drains were causing stagnant water due to refuse accumulation, stated this during an inspection of discharge channels at Ogbe-Ijoh market today.

The Governor disclosed this on the official X account of Delta State Government @DSGovernment said:

During an inspection of discharge channels at Ogbe-Ijoh market today, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressed disapproval of structures built on waterways, stating that they would be demolished to facilitate unobstructed water flow. He noted that blocked drains were causing stagnant water due to refuse accumulation, exacerbating the longstanding flooding challenges in the region.

The governor emphasized the need to channel water through drains and box culverts from Warri Stadium to Bowen Avenue and eventually to the Warri River, highlighting the importance of clearing debris from drains to restore proper water flow in the area.

He reiterated the significance of restoring the functionality of blocked drains to mitigate flood risks in the community, underscoring the state government’s commitment to resolving the persistent flooding challenges in Warri Stadium and its environs.
