LAGOS- The Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP) Nigeria on Tuesday celebrated the victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recent regional elections held in three crucial states of India. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that India’s right-wing ruling party scored a resounding victory in regional elections, wresting control of key states in a major boost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is set to bid for a third term in national elections in May 2024. In the elections concluded on Sunday, BJP won Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh states from the opposition Indian National Congress Party and registered a record fifth term in central Madhya Pradesh. BJP President, Jagat Prakash Nadda, in a statement on Tuesday said this was a significant achievement for Prime Minister Modi and setting the stage for the upcoming national elections. Young couple found dead at home in circumstances that has shocked the public in India

INDIA- The decomposing bodies of a young couple in their early 20s were found on Monday morning, Nov. 6 in their rented Lohegaon apartment in India. The deceased have been identified as Kiran Mahadev Bobade (22) and his wife, Aarti (20). Police said that while the man was found hanging with his hands tied, his wife lay lifeless on the bed. Officials from Vimantal police station said the man worked on contract basis with Indian Post and his wife Aarti was employed at a private bank. Senior inspector Anand Khobare of the Airport police said, “Bobade was found hanging from the ceiling fan, while Arati was found lying motionless on the bed in their one-bedroom-hall-kitchen flat on the ground floor of a housing society in Lohegaon.” He added, “A foul smell permeated the society from the flat, following which the residents alerted the flat owner, who stays in the same building. “He attempted to open the door, but it was locked from inside. Indians in Lagos State celebrate “Dussehra” Festival

Lagos, Nov. 1, 2023 (NAN) Indians in Lagos State have celebrated the ancient Dussehra Festival, which symbolises the victory of good over evil and the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya. Nigerian man arrested for allegedly killing Nigerian woman in India

A 40-year-old Nigerian national, Obinoze Alexander, has been arrested for allegedly killing a fellow citizen identified as Flora Gold in South Delhi, India. The body of the woman was found wrapped in bedsheets and tucked away in a box bed on Friday, April 28, 2023.  DCP (South) Chandan Chowdhary said that they received a PCR call from a person who claimed that a foul smell was coming from inside a flat in Maidangarhi.  “The caller said that a foul smell was coming from a flat on the third floor of the Sriman apartment. Two Nigerian men arrested in India for allegedly duping over 700 women on matrimonial sites

Delhi Police have arrested two Nigerian nationals for allegedly making fake profiles on matrimonial websites and duping many women of millions on the pretext of sending over expensive gifts.  The accused, Chife Monday, 27, and Igwemma James, 33, revealed to the police that they have duped over 700 women over the last four years, DCP (Outer) Harendra Kumar Singh said on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.  The police said the duo would pose as US residents and claim to have sent gifts to the women. A new statue of footballing superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked controversy in the Indian state of Goa. Locals in Goa are objecting to a Portuguese footballer being honoured instead of a player from India. Michael Lobo, a minister in the Goa state government, tweeted that the statue had been supposed to promote football as a sport and inspire young people to play the game. Helicopter Conveying Indian Chief Of Defence Staff, Rawat Crashes, Four Dead

36 dead, dozens missing in India landslides

Thirty-six people have been killed in landslides caused by monsoon rains in western India, authorities said on Friday. As many as 40 others were missing after the three separate landslides on Thursday evening in the Raigad district of Maharashtra state, south of India’s financial capital Mumbai. “At least 35 to 40 people are still trapped, we are trying to rescue them,” a local official said. Elsewhere in the state, up to 15 people were also missing. The Navy and Air Force joined rescue efforts after the downpour caused floods that left thousands stranded, but their operations were hampered by landslides blocking roads, including the main highway between Mumbai and Goa. Water levels rose to 3.5 metres (12 feet) in areas of Chiplun, a city 250 kilometres (160 miles) from Mumbai, following 24 hours of uninterrupted rain that caused the Vashishti river to overflow, submerging roads and homes. By Ogechi Okorie New Delhi (Precise Post) –   Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in partnership with Hyderabad-based vaccine manufacturing company Bharat Biotech International Limited (BBIL), would launch the first COVID-19 vaccine by August 15, a letter said on Friday. “It is envisaged to launch the vaccine for public health use latest by 15th August 2020 after completion of all clinical trials. “BBIL is working expeditiously to meet the target, however, final outcome will depend on the cooperation of all clinical trial sites involved in this project,’’ a letter by ICMR Director-General Balram Bhargava to institutes said. ICMR has selected a dozen institutes for clinical trials of the indigenous COVID-19 vaccine (BBV152 COVID vaccine).
