Some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have staged a protest in the United Kingdom amid President Bola Tinubu’s state visit.
News learnt that protesters who gathered at key locations across London, including Parliament Square, 10 Downing Street, the Commonwealth Office and the Nigerian High Commission, were calling for the immediate release of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In the viral video online, the protesters were seen holding placards with various inscriptions such as ‘Free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’, and heard chanting, “Our message is very clear: Tinubu does not deserve a royal salute. That is our stand today, being the 18th of March.”
Meanwhile, former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has claimed that the continued detention of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is due to his refusal to accept certain conditions allegedly accepted by Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho.
Sowore made this known during an interview with journalists in Abuja, while comparing the political approaches of the two separatist figures and their relationship with President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Sowore said his recent interaction with Kanu reinforced his belief that the two men could not be compared, stressing that if the IPOB leader had accepted the same terms offered to Igboho, he would be campaigning for Tinubu in the Southeast.
