EndSARS: Kaduna govt receives panel report, to set up White Paper committee

The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Acts of Police Brutality in Kaduna State led by Justice David Wyom has submitted its report to the state government on Monday. The report was received by the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna. In her address, Balarabe stated that the state government will study the report and its recommendations and issue a White Paper in response. This is as she called for a decentralised police system that will operate with the highest regard for the law and rights and dignity of citizens. She said, “It is my pleasure to receive the report of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into acts of brutality by Police personnel in Kaduna State. When we inaugurated this Commission on 19th October 2020, it was done in response to serious concerns about police accountability expressed across the country. “You will recall that the Federal Government and the state governments endorsed the demand for reforms to policing. Strike: Kaduna Govt. ‘ll not change position – El-Rufai

Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State says there is no ground for compromise with the Nigerian Labor Congress (NLC) over the ongoing warning strike embarked by the union in the state. The governor disclosed this on Tuesday in an interview in Kaduna while reacting to the five-day warning strike by labour unions in the state that had entered second day.According to him, the unions have used their last ultimate weapon and it would not change anything.He stressed that “the state government will not change its position.”The governor claimed that the NLC has committed offences bordering on economic sabotage, hence, the government had issued an order for arrest of NLC President, Ayuba Wabba.“Anyone who sees the NLC president should report to the nearest police station or report to us. By Ogechi Okorie Abuja (Precise Post) – Governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has vowed to prosecute anyone caught using its name to negotiate with bandits or terrorists in the state. This is according to the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who made the government’s position known via a statement issued on Sunday. While noting that the government has not appointed an intermediary to negotiate with bandits on its behalf, the commissioner described it as untrue, media reports suggesting that the Governor Nasir El-Rufai administration appointed representatives to dialogue with the criminal elements. “The position of the Kaduna State Government remains the same: the Government will not negotiate with or pay ransoms to bandits. Kaduna Govt Okays Resumption of Tertiary Institutions on 25 January

The state government also warned that the school’s management must ensure strict adherence to all the guidelines and protocols put in place by the state. Kaduna Govt Offers Digital Skills Training To 360 Youth

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 360 youth participanted in the Click-On Kaduna and Kad-DIP digital training programmes, funded by the World Bank and Rockerfeller Foundation. The programmes are to support ICK skills training and equip the youth in digital technology and entrepreneurship.
