Layal Jade Tinubu, the wife of Seyi Tinubu — son of Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu — has opened up about how she met her husband, revealing that their love story began on Facebook.
In a recent video broadcast celebrating Seyi’s 40th birthday, Layal recounted how their first interaction blossomed into a lifelong relationship. She disclosed that what attracted her to Seyi was not a pickup line, but his charisma and confidence.
“We met on Facebook,” she said. “I wouldn’t really say there was a pickup line per se, but it was more about how he carried himself that drew me to him. He was confident yet easy-going, and he had this opulent charm — like he didn’t really need to try.”
Layal, a Nigerian-Lebanese lawyer and entrepreneur, tied the knot with Seyi Tinubu in 2016. The couple has since built a family together and are blessed with children.
In August, they celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary. Marking the occasion, Seyi took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt message to his wife.
He wrote:
“9 years married, 20 years together, and our beautiful kids — I remain in awe of your strength, compassion, and the grace you show every day. @layaltinubu, thank you for loving me through it all. Here’s to the life we’ve built and the future where we grow stronger beyond what we sacrifice to protect those we love, especially each other and our family. I love you.”
The couple’s love story — from a social media connection to a strong family bond — continues to inspire many who follow their journey.
