CAF Confederation Cup Matchday 6 Wrap: Olisema’s late goal sends Enyimba to Quarter-final; Diaraf, JS Kabylie, Raja finish top

By Joan Nnenna Iwuchukwu Abuja (Precise Post) – Enyimba’s Cyril Olisema’s 95th-minute effort handed the People’s Elephant a late-minute winner against Orlando Pirates who suffered their first loss of the group stage in Aba in the final game of the CAF Confederation Cup Group A played at the Enyimba International Stadium. The People’s Elephant were third in the group with six points before the start of the last group games and the tie was threatening to end in a goalless draw that would have sent Entente Setif of Algeria, who pipped Al Ahli Benghazi of Libya 1-0 through. But Anayo Iwuala conjured up a last-minute trick from the flank of the visitors’ goal area and he sent the ball through the face of Pirates’ goal for well-placed Olisema to drill the ball beyond the outstretched hands of Orlando Pirates’ goalkeeper. Before the goal, Enyimba players were disjointed and played the larger part of the game without a clear-cut pattern other than ballooning the ball to the vital area of the South Africans. It was a narrow win for Nigeria’s representatives. …

Dropping Of Weapons, Food Items By Helicopters Reason For No Fly Zone – Security Sources

By Ogechi Okorie Abuja (Precise Post) – Multiple security sources yesterday revealed that: “There is credible intelligence that the bandits get their arms and ammunition by airdrop. The fact that Zamfara State is landlocked supports the intelligence. Declaring the state a ‘no-fly zone’ is intended to cut off the bandits’ arms supply chain, while the troops move in to flush them out. Aerial supply of arms, ammunition and food to bandits is a major reason for the imposition of ‘no fly zone’ order on Zamfara State, it was learnt on Wednesday.Besides, helicopters are also used to illegally transport gold mineral from the state. The Federal Government slammed the “no fly” order on the state on Tuesday after the National Security Council meeting. It also banned all mining activities in the state until further notice. Nasarwa State Governor Abdullahi Sule described the decision as “fantastic” and “long-overdue”. But, Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle rejected it, saying “the security council does not seem to understand the nature of security problem in the state”. He said it will not solve the security problem …
