President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Yokohama on Thursday night en route to Brazil, where he is scheduled to begin a state visit on August 24.
According to a statement by Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga, shared via his X handle (@aonanuga1956), the President will make a stopover in Los Angeles before continuing to Brasília, the Brazilian capital.
This marks the second leg of President Tinubu’s two-nation diplomatic tour, which began on August 15 when he left Abuja for Dubai, followed by his arrival in Yokohama, Japan, on August 18.
While in Japan, Tinubu attended the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), where he participated in the opening ceremony, plenary sessions, and key bilateral meetings. He capped off the visit with an interactive session with Nigerians in the diaspora on Thursday night.
