Olisema hopeful for more goals

Abuja (Precise Post) – Aftermath the 20 yard scremer that prove the match winner against Rangers of Enugu. Cyril Olisema has promised more goals for himself and for the club in the quest for his club Enyimba of Aba to regain their title.

The midfielder with eye for equally said it is not the first time he is scoring such goal as he has scored several especially against the Gambia in CAF confederations cup.

“I was happy for that goal. It is not my first time I am scoring such goal. I have scored one like that in Gambia in CAF confederations cup.

It brought back my confidence in the game and we took the lead. Scoring for a player is the most vital thing and I hope we push more to retain the title.

Our next match is against Nasarawa United which is another tough side that have been scoring alot goals. I know goals scoring has been our problem lately but it is football. Hopefully we will put in our best to win Nasarawa. We hope to pick all the available points at home hopefully some away. He stated

Chelsea Beat Man City To Delay Premier League Title Party

Abuja (Precise Post) – Chelsea forced Manchester City to put their Premier League title party on hold on Saturday, winning 2-1 to boost their own chances of a top-four finish in a dress rehearsal for the Champions League final.

Raheem Sterling gave the home side the lead at the empty Etihad Stadium just before half-time but Hakim Ziyech levelled in the second half and Marcos Alonso bundled in the winner in the dying seconds.

The point lifts the Londoners to 64 points, six clear of fifth-placed West Ham with just three games to go.

City could be crowned champions before they play again. Manchester United face three matches before Guardiola’s men are next in action, against Newcastle on Friday.

NPFL/La Liga U15 Promises: Wolves, MFM, Akwa United & Katsina United qualify for Semi-final

Abuja (Precise Post) – Defending champions Katsina United, MFM FC, Akwa United and Warri Wolves have qualified for the semi-final of the NPFL/La Liga U15 Promises.

The battle for slots in the last four wasn’t determined until today as the young lads thrilled at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

Ajibona Uthmann became the first player to net a hat-trick in this year’s tournament as MFM FC disgraced Lobi Stars 6-1.

Madu Ebuka registered a brace while Akinleminu Lucky also scored for the Olukoya Boys.

Ihuee Bernard accounted for Stars’ solitary goal.

Akwa United humbled Heartland 2-0, thanks to goals from Idorenyen John and Ofofon James.

In their last game in Pool B of the competition, Wolves defeated Kano Pillars 2-1 in a keenly contested tie.

Prior to the encounter, Kwara United and Katsina United had played a barren draw in the first Pool B game of the day.

That result had set the stage for a-winner-takes-it-all clash between Pillars and Warri Wolves, as the young Seasiders had garnered four points from their two Pool B games earlier, while Kano Pillars were on three points.

The young Sai Masu Gida campaigners went ahead in the 35th minute of the tie through Ishaq Muktar from the penalty spot.

Four minutes later, Wolves had their perfect response when Jeffery Angayana scored the equalizer.

In the second half of the encounter, Manah Stephen scored the winner and deflated all hopes of qualification for Kano Pillars.

Meanwhile, MFM FC have a tricky semi-final test against defending champions Katsina.

The other fixture will see Warri Wolves lock horns with Akwa United.

Both games will take place at the Cathedral on Friday.

Prudent Handball Premier League To Hold In October As HFN revises its 2021 Sporting Calendar

Abuja (Precise Post) – The Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2021 will no longer be in phases but will hold on consolidated basis in October 2021 according to the new revised calendar of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN)

In the revised calendar released by the Handball Federation of Nigeria, the top tier premier handball league which was hitherto played in phases with the first phase slated to hold in Abuja this May, will now hold in the Nation’s Capital (Abuja) later in the year in October in one consolidated event wherein the teams will play round robin games amongst themselves and the league winners as well as the relegated teams will be decided.

The decision to play in one phased competition as it was played last year, according to the HFN President Mr. Sam Ocheho, was made after due consultation with stakeholders who didn’t think playing through the Ramadan period was ideal.

He also reiterated that Prudent Energy who are the sponsor of the league are determined to abide by the decision of the handball family.

“The first phase of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2031 would have held in May but Stakeholders were not prepared to play through the Ramadan” Ocheho said

“Some wanted the division one to hold to bring about more competitiveness in the league as that will ensure demotion and promotion of new teams.

The HFN board listened to the wishes of the stakeholders hence the Prudent Energy Handball league will be holding on a consolidated basis this year as it was last year.

“I must emphasize this is no fault of the sponsors as they are ready and willing to work with the decisions of the handball community”.

Other changes in the new revised HFN calendar would see the National Women Handball Team commence camping for the Africa Women Handball Nations Cup in Abuja from May 2 through to the first week of June 2021 when they will depart th country for Cameroon wherein the Championship will hold from June 6 to 18, 2021.

In July, the National Division One League will hold which one which will enable teams to gain promotion for the Prudent Energy Handball Premier 2021.

The venue of the Division One League will communicated by the HFN soonest.

Sokoto will play host to the National Under 12/15 Handball Championship in August 2021.

It would be recalled that the Sokoto State Government led by Governor Aminu Tambuwal, impressed with successful 2020 edition of the National Under 12/15 Handball Championship which held in the state, had promised the continued hosting of the age grade handball championship for the next three editions.

This is the first of the editions and according to the HFN President Sam Ocheho, Sokoto State cannot wait for the commencement of the championship.

Ocheho said the handball family is looking towards a loaded second half of the year filled with activities while also urging stakeholders to continue supporting the programmes and activities of the Handball Federation of Nigeria.

NPFL/La Liga U15 Promises: Heartland and Wolves seal passage to quarter finals

Abuja (Precise Post) – Heartland and Warri Wolves qualified for the 2021 NPFL/La Liga U15 Promises quarter finals on Tuesday.

They have joined Kano Pillars and Akwa United in the last eight.

Heartland sealed their passage to the round eight thanks to Chikwere Chigaemezu’s 12th minute winner against defending champions Katsina United.

Earlier in the day, Adamawa United stunned Rivers United 5-2.

Ahmed Umaru and Mubarak Ibrahim bagged a brace each for Adamawa. Gaddafi Magaji was also on target.

Egbe Kelvin’s double wasn’t enough for Rivers United in the seven-goal thriller.

The victory leaves Adamawa United with three points from two games and they face Kastina United in the final group match.

The match between Warri Wolves and MFM FC was billed an epic contest. It ended 1-0 in favour of Wolves, and the Young Seasiders can now celebrate a quarterfinal ticket.

Chadian President, Idriss Deby Dies On Frontlines – Army Spokesman

Chad’s newly re-elected President Idriss Deby Itno has died of injuries while fighting rebels in the north of the Sahel country.

The shocking announcement came only the day after the 68-year-old was proclaimed the winner of a presidential election that had given him a sixth term in office.

The army said Deby had been commanding his army at the weekend as it battled against rebels who had launched a major incursion into the north of the country on election day.

Deby “has just breathed his last breath defending the sovereign nation on the battlefield,” army spokesman General Azem Bermandoa Agouna said in a statement read out on state television.

Deby, 68, had ruled Chad for three decades but was a key ally in the West’s anti-jihadist campaign in the troubled Sahel region.

The army said a military council led by the late president’s 37-year-old son Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, a four-star general, would replace him.

On Monday, the army had claimed a “great victory” in its battle against the rebels from neighbouring Libya, saying it had killed 300 fighters, with the loss of five soldiers in its own ranks during eight days of combat.

Deby would have been one of the longest-serving leaders in the world, after provisional results showed him winning the April 11 election.

He was a herder’s son from the Zaghawa ethnic group who took the classic path to power through the army and relished the military culture.

His latest election victory — with almost 80 percent of the vote — had never been in doubt, with a divided opposition, boycott calls, and a campaign in which demonstrations were banned or dispersed.

Deby had campaigned on a promise of bringing peace and security to the region, but his pledges were undermined by the rebel incursion.

The government had sought on Monday to assure concerned residents that the offensive was over.

The tanks were later withdrawn apart from a perimeter around the president’s office, which is under heavy security during normal times.

“The establishment of a security deployment in certain areas of the capital seems to have been misunderstood,” government spokesman Cherif Mahamat Zene had said on Twitter on Monday.

“There is no particular threat to fear.”

However, the US embassy in N’Djamena had on Saturday ordered non-essential personnel to leave the country, warning of possible violence in the capital. Britain also urged its nationals to leave.

France’s embassy said in an advisory to its nationals in Chad that the deployment was a precaution and there was no specific threat to the capital.

The rebel raid in the provinces of Tibesti and Kanem was carried out by the Front for Change and Concord in Chad (FACT), based in Libya.

The group has a non-aggression pact with Khalifa Haftar, a military strongman who controls much of Libya’s east.

FACT, a group mainly made up of the Saharan Goran people, said in a statement Sunday that it had “liberated” the Kanem region. Such claims in remote desert combat zones are difficult to verify.

The Tibesti mountains near the Libyan frontier frequently see fighting between rebels and the army, as well as in the northeast bordering Sudan. French air strikes were needed to stop an incursion there in February 2019.

In February 2008, a rebel assault reached the gates of the presidential palace before being pushed back with French backing. (Channels TV).

NPFL/La Liga U15 Promises: Pillars & Akwa United qualify for quarter finals

Abuja – Godswill Ndaeyo scored the winner as Akwa United sealed their place in the quarterfinals of the 2021 NPFL/La Liga U15 Promises with a 1-0 victory over Jigawa Golden Stars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Monday afternoon.

Akwa United have now picked six points from two matches. Jigawa Golden Stars still have one point.

Suleiman Shehu, Idris Khamus and Imrana Musa were on target for Kano Pillars who walloped Enyimba 3-0.

The Young Masu Gida also sealed their place in the last eight with six points from two games.

Lobi Stars forced Dakkada to a 1-1 draw at the Cathedral.

It was a match of few chances, but Victor Michael drew the first blood before Sejugh Lortyer levelled matters for the Makurdi based side.

Dakkada have picked two points from two games, while Lobi Stars have one point.

Action continues on Tuesday when Rivers United take on Adamawa United.

Another game will see defending champions Katsina United face Heartland. Both sides won their opening group games.

Meanwhile, Warri Wolves will hope to prey on MFM FC on Tuesday.

See why Tottenham fired manager, Jose Mourinho

ABUJA – Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Tottenham after just 17 months in charge.

The Portuguese replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs manager in November 2019 and guided the club to sixth in the Premier League last season.

They are currently seventh, having picked up two points from their past three league games, and were knocked out of the Europa League in March.

Spurs face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on 25 April.

On Sunday, Tottenham were one of six Premier League clubs to announce they were joining a new European Super League, but it is not related to Mourinho’s sacking.

Mourinho’s coaching staff of Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra have also been sacked.

“Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a club,” said Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. “Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic.

“On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged.

“He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution.”

This season, Mourinho – who previously managed Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Porto – suffered 10 league defeats in a single campaign for the first time in his managerial career.

No Premier League side has lost more points from winning positions this season than Spurs, who have dropped 20.

Mourinho’s last game in charge was a 2-2 league draw at Everton on Friday.

Former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason, who has been working with the club’s academy, will take first-team training on Monday.

What went wrong?
Spurs had enjoyed a promising start to the current season, including a 6-1 win against Mourinho’s former club Manchester United at Old Trafford.

A 2-0 home win over north London rivals Arsenal in early December saw them go top of the Premier League, as Mourinho – a three-time Premier League and two-time Champions League winner – became only the second Spurs manager in history to win his first two north London derbies.

They weren’t top for long, dropping back to second later that month with defeat by Liverpool.

Since then, Spurs have won seven of 19 league games, losing eight of them.

In February, they were knocked out of the FA Cup in a 5-4 quarter-final defeat by Everton, marking the first time a Mourinho side had conceded five goals since 2010.

They were beaten 2-1 at Arsenal on 14 March and four days later were eliminated from the Europa League, losing 3-2 on aggregate to Dinamo Zagreb having won the first leg 2-0.

Two weeks ago, Mourinho – who has earned a reputation as a master tactician and defensive-minded coach and is a former Fifa world coach of the year – refused to accept the blame for Spurs’ dropped points.

“Same coach, different players,” he said when it was pointed out to him how good his teams usually are at defending leads.

During Mourinho’s time at Tottenham, only Man City (130), Liverpool (117) and Manchester United (116) picked up more Premier League points than Spurs (95).
Only during the 2015-16 season with Chelsea (0.9) and 2018-19 with Man Utd (1.5) has a Mourinho side averaged fewer points per game in a league season than Spurs in 2020-21 (1.6).
Only Brighton (31) and Southampton (30) dropped more points from winning positions in the Premier League during the period Mourinho was in charge at Tottenham (27).
Eleven of the 20 points dropped from winning positions this season have come from goals conceded in the final 10 minutes of matches.
Mourinho leaves Spurs with a record of 27 wins, 14 draws and 17 defeats from 58 Premier League games.
Of all managers to take charge of 10 or more matches for Tottenham in the Premier League, only Tim Sherwood (1.91), Mauricio Pochettino (1.89), Andre Villas-Boas (1.83) and Harry Redknapp (1.74) have averaged more points per game than Mourinho.(Sky sports).

Abuja (Precise Post) – Defending champions Delta has emerged overall winners of the 20th National Sports Festival tagged ‘ Edo 2020’ Games having won the highest number of medals to retain the title they also won in Abuja games in 2018.

The Deltans harvested a total number of 384 medals, comprising 158 gold, 116 silver and 110 bronze, to emerge champions of the games ahead of the host Edo who gave a good account of themselves by surpassing their  record at the 2018 Abuja games with a total of 341 medals made up of 129 Gold,104 silver and 108 Bronze

Delta will be keeping the giant Eagle gold cup,having won the title for a record third time consecutively; Lagos,Abuja and now Edo games. The champions have also been awarded the hosting right of the 21st edition as announced by the minister of sports Sunday Dare at the closing ceremony.

Bayelsa came out in a distant third place with 56 gold, 55 silver and 58 bronze to have a total of 169 medals, while Rivers are in fourth place with 33 gold, 34 silver and 61 Bronze, totaling 128 medals, pushing Lagos to fifth place with 32 gold, 40 silver and 54 Bronze medals to have a total of 126 medals while Taraba state are leaders from the bottom with two silver medals to show for their participation.

Meanwhile,Hosts Edo, on the final day of the games wrapped up their second place win with a gold medal in 4 by 4 Mixed Relay after returning in  a time of 42.5 seconds,leaving the second and third positions for Lagos(42:08 Seconds) and Delta(42:95 sec).

Finally, Obasanjo opens up on June 12 annulment, makes serious revelations

Abuja (Precise Post) – After many years of silence, former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has opened up on the issue of the freest and fairest election in Nigeria, saying ‘bad blood’ is the reason for the annulment of the June 12, 1993, Presidential election thought to have been won by late business mogul, Moshood Kashimawo Abiola.

The former president who described the late acclaimed winner of the election, Kashimawo Abiola as his school mate at the Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta, said the annulment robbed Egbaland, the rare opportunity to have three of its prominent sons, occupy the seat of the president, at different times.

Obasanjo spoke during the weekend in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital during his investiture as a Trustee of the Abeokuta Club, a sociocultural organisation of Egba people of Ogun State.

The late business mogul was also awarded a posthumous Vice-Patron of the Club during its 46th President Party held at the secretariat in Abeokuta. According to Obasanjo Abiola richly deserved the award bestowed on him by the Abeokuta Club.

Obasanjo who was apparently referring to former Head of Interim National Government Chief Ernest Shonekan, himself who ruled Nigeria, first, as a military Head-of-State and later two-time civilian president, noted that Abiola would have become the third if the 1993 poll was not cancelled.

“I want to thank Abeokuta club for this honour being bestowed on me and the honour being bestowed on my school mate MKO Abiola which he richly deserved,” Obasanjo stated.

“Normally when you win a cup three times, you keep that cup. Isn’t it? If not for bad belle, Abeokuta would have produced President of Nigeria three times, in which case we should have kept it permanently.

“But be that as it may, we have a great heritage and we should be proud of our heritage.”

Obasanjo, however, pledged his commitment to the development of the Club, Ogun state, Nigeria and the world.

“I want to say this, I will continue to contribute my quota to the development and growth of this club and by extension, the development and growth of Abeokuta, of Ogun State, of Nigeria, of African and indeed of the world in whichever way I could,” the former president pledged.

Edo: Obaseki Wins Again As Tribunal Dismises ADP’s Forgery Case

Abuja (Precise Post) – Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki, yesterday, floored the Action Democratic Party, ADP, and its governorship candidate in the September 19, 2020, governorship election, Iboi Emmanuel at the Edo State governorship election petition tribunal as a petition brought against him and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was dismissed.

In a five and a half hour ruling, Justice Suleiman Abubakar said, the petitioners could not prove their case of forgery, participation in the primary election of two political parties and not having the constitutional qualification to contest the governorship election against Obaseki.

The tribunal first ruled that the inclusion of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its candidate in the governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as respondents in the petition by the ADP and then make it look like they have a stake in the petition through motions was “novel in election petitions cases in Nigeria.

“Based on our consideration of all the issues raised in this petition, we are of the view that the petitioners could not prove that Governor Obaseki, who was declared winner of the September 19, 2020, governorship election as the governor of Edo State, was at the time of the election not qualified to contest the election, therefore, this petition is hereby dismissed in its entirety.

“The election of Obaseki as the governor of Edo State is hereby affirmed by this tribunal.

“In our findings, the first respondent went to school up to the school certificate level and eminently qualified to run for the office of the governor of the state and contests in the September 19, 2020, governorship election.”

The petitioners had challenged the outcome of the September 19 governorship election that brought in Governor Obaseki.

They argued that Obaseki presented forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the purpose of the election.

Reacting to the judgment, counsel to the petitioners, Douglas Ogbankwa said they gave their best in the case and commended the panel for its efforts but insisted that there was merit in their case and believed that the Court of Appeal would do the needful by upturning the decision of the tribunal.(Vanguard).

Bye-election Victory: Abaribe Hails Ebisike, Thanks Aba People, PDP Family

Abuja (Precise Post) – Senate Minority Leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe on Sunday congratulated the winner of the Aba South/North House of Representatives bye-election, Mr Chimaobi Ebisike and the people of Aba for trooping out to elect a representative of their choice.

The Senator in a statement by his Media Adviser, Uchenna Awom shortly after the declaration of Ebisike, also applauded the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for effectively mobilizing the members and mounting a clean and vigorous campaign that culminated in victory.

This victory Senator Abaribe added, is a clear testament that PDP is the preferred choice in the state, especially with the superlative performance of the government.

“This victory is soothing and a clear signal that our people are very conscious of what is going on in the country, with the shoddy treatment of the Ndigbo by the APC government. Never again can we be led by the nose, by people who doesn’t mean well for our people”, Abaribe said.

Nonetheless, he advised the party to be magnanimous in victory, remain united and eschew tendencies that could alienate those willing to join now.

Precise Post recalls that the Peoples Democcratic Party candidate, Mr Chimaobi Ebisike defeated the APC candidate in the Aba South/North House of Representatives bye-election that held yesterday with 10,322 votes as against 3,674 votes scored by the candidate of the APC, Mascot Uzor Kalu who came second.

Abia Bye- Election: PDP’s Chimobi Wins Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency

Abuja (Precise Post) – The Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Chimaobi Iheanyichukwu Ebisike has emerged the winner of the Aba North/Aba South Federal Constituency Bye-Election, held on 27th March 2021, the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared.

Chimaobi emerged the winner of the election with 10, 322 votes out of the 16, 017 total votes cast.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mascot Uzor Kalu came second with after scoring a total of 3,674 votes.

According to the result released by INEC via it’s twitter handle on Sunday, there were 496, 628 registered voters with 16, 335 accredited votes and total votes cast stood at 16,017.

While the valid votes were 15, 772, there was 245 rejected votes.

The electoral Commission said that percentage turnout I the election was 3.29%.

2021 Grammy Award: Buhari Hails Burnaboy For Winning ‘Best Global Music Album’

Abuja (Precise Post) – President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Nigerian music star Damini Ogulu, also known as Burnaboy, whose entry won the “Best Global Music Album” category in the 2021 Grammy awards, saying he has made notable contributions in the field of music which the world has come to recognize.

The congratulatory message was contained in a series of tweets by the Senior Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), Garba Shehu.

The tweets read in parts:

“Congratulations to Burna Boy on being conferred the 2021 Grammy, the world’s most prestigious musical awards. He has made notable contributions in the field of music which have brought glory to Nigerians at home & abroad. We are proud of his path-breaking achievements,” he said.

The President also congratulates @wizkidayo who emerged as a joint winner of the Grammy Awards in a different category.

President Buhari acknowledges the efforts of forerunners like King Sunny Ade and Femi Kuti whose creative exertions earned them Grammy nominations, paved the way and brought Nigerian music to global reckoning.

The President believes that the record breaking musical achievements are a recognition of the Nigerian creative talents and the awards will open doors to other aspiring citizens.

With that in mind, Ocheho told newsmen on Wednesday that Adorable Angels have chances of becoming exposed and getting better partnerships from potential club sides and sponsors after the championship.

Abuja (Precise Post) – Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has urged Muslims and Christians to sheathe their sword and avoid the temptation of resorting to violence in order to express their grievances.”

According to the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President gave the advise while reacting to the violence that erupted in Gombe State arising from the Billiri chieftaincy tussle.

Garba Shehu who disclosed this via his twitter handle account, informed that Buhari expressed great shock and deep concern over the Gombe crisis.

According to Garba Shehu, Buhari reacting to the development on Sunday, President Buhari said: “I’m seriously disturbed by the outbreak of violence in Gombe State and call on the parties involved to exercise maximum restraint to avoid escalation.”

According to the President, “the easy resort to violence is uncalled for because there are enough avenues to resolve differences amicably without threatening law and order.”

He noted that “in a circle of violence, there are no winners, except losers,” advising Muslims and Christians to “avoid the temptation of resorting to violence in order to express their grievances.”

“Nigerians have shed enough blood over issues that could have been peacefully resolved. I appeal to the two parties to sheathe their swords for the sake of peaceful coexistence.

“Gombe has enjoyed relative religious harmony for decades and you shouldn’t allow hoodlums destroy this positive record,” President Buhari appealed to the feuding parties.
