TCN schedules maintenance in parts of Enugu

ABUJA – The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Tuesday, said that a scheduled maintenance of its New Haven Transmission Substation in Enugu State, will run from Oct. 22 to Oct. 31.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday.

TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, said that the preventive maintenance and reinforcement exercise of its New Haven 132/33 Kilo Volt(KV ) will hold between 9:00 a m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.

”This essential project is aimed at upgrading the station’s capacity to enhance the reliability and quality of bulk power supply to Enugu and its surroundings.

”TCN wishes to clarify that this is not a total system shutdown for Enugu; to minimise disruption, the work has been carefully planned to affect only one 33kV feeder per day, on a rotational basis.

”Given that Enugu is supplied by 24 33kV feeders, this arrangement ensures that most parts of the state will continue to receive power supply while the maintenance is ongoing.

”The exercise requires the temporary isolation of specific 33kV feeders to ensure the safety of TCN technical crews and the protection of equipment under maintenance, ”she said.

Mbah listed the affected feeders, scheduled on a rotational basis as follows: Oct.22: Kingsway Line 2 Feeder, Oct. 23, Emene Line 1 Feeder, Oct.24, Thinkers Corner Feeder.

Others are on Oct. 25, Transekulu Feeder, Oct. 26, Kingsway Line 1 Feeder, Oct. 28, Emene Line 2 Feeder, Oct. 29: Ugwogo Feeder and on Oct.31, Itukuozalla Feeder.

The company says that customers in areas serviced by these feeders, will experience power interruption only on the day their specific feeder is isolated.

”TCN appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all electricity consumers as it carries out this critical reinforcement project, designed to ensure a more robust and efficient power transmission network in the long term, ”she said. (NAN)
