President Bola Tinubu has described his lunch meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace as highly productive.
Tinubu, who is currently on a working vacation in France, disclosed the details of the meeting in a post via his official handle.
According to him, both leaders reviewed key areas of cooperation between Nigeria and France and agreed to strengthen their partnership for mutual prosperity and global stability.
He wrote:
“Had a productive lunch with President Emmanuel Macron @EmmanuelMacron today at the Élysée Palace. We reviewed key areas of cooperation between Nigeria and France and agreed to deepen our partnership for mutual prosperity and global stability.”
Meanwhile, the Idoma Area Traditional Council (IATC) has refuted claims that it nullified the chieftaincy titles recently conferred on President Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
The titles were conferred by the Adiharu of Igede, HRH Oga Ero, during the Igede Agba Festival in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State.
In a statement released on Tuesday by its Secretary, Adegbe Uloko, the IATC described the reports as “mischievous and misleading.”
The controversy stemmed from the council’s earlier embargo on the conferment of chieftaincy titles within its jurisdiction. Despite this directive, HRH Oga Ero went ahead to honour select personalities during the festival, sparking disagreements among Idoma and Igede stakeholders.
Clarifying its stance, the IATC stressed that the names of President Tinubu and SGF Akume were never part of the proposed list of honourees for the event.
