ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –   The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold and courageous decisions that rescued Nigeria from economic collapse and laid the foundation for long-term growth.

Kalu made the remarks in a statement issued on Saturday to mark Tinubu’s third anniversary in office, signed by Levinus Nwabughiogu, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Precise Post recalls that the President was sworn in on May 29, 2023.

Congratulating Tinubu on behalf of his constituents, the Deputy Speaker praised the administration’s efforts in tackling economic challenges and implementing key reforms aimed at securing the country’s future.
“The past three years have tested our resolve, yet your administration has shown courage in taking bold decisions to secure our future,” Kalu said.

He highlighted economic stabilisation and critical policy reforms as some of the administration’s major achievements, noting that the President’s leadership has continued to foster national unity and sustainable development.
“From stabilising the economy to advancing critical reforms, your leadership continues to lay the foundation for lasting growth and unity,” he stated.

As Tinubu begins his fourth year in office, Kalu prayed for renewed strength, wisdom and grace for the President to consolidate the gains already recorded and deliver greater prosperity to Nigerians.

The Deputy Speaker also urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections, arguing that many of the administration’s reforms require continuity to achieve their intended outcomes.

According to him, major policies such as subsidy removal, exchange rate unification, tax reforms and broader economic restructuring need more than one term to mature.
“A second term ensures these policies are not reversed midstream, which would erase the sacrifice already made and destabilise investor confidence,” he said.

Kalu further cited ongoing national infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Gas Pipeline, rail expansion projects and power sector upgrades, as reasons why the President should be given the opportunity to complete his agenda.

He maintained that Tinubu had already “cleared the ground” by removing economic distortions, attracting foreign direct investment and rebuilding fiscal buffers needed to drive economic growth.
“With inflation now trending down and reserves recovering, a second term is the harvest period where Nigerians begin to feel the benefits of earlier tough decisions,” he added.

On security, Kalu pointed to ongoing efforts to establish state policing, improve military hardware and introduce new security strategies, saying the administration had begun resetting the foundations of national security.
“The first term cleared the debris and laid the foundation. The second term builds the house. Re-electing President Tinubu is a vote to complete the work, protect the gains and give reforms time to translate into more jobs, lower costs and lasting growth,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker argued that changing leadership at a critical stage could disrupt momentum in the fight against banditry and terrorism, while a second term would send a strong signal of political stability to investors.
He added that continuity would help sustain the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda and attract greater investments in key sectors such as energy, technology and manufacturing.

Kalu also reaffirmed the commitment of the National Assembly to working closely with the executive and other arms of government to enact policies and laws that would improve the welfare of citizens and accelerate national development.
