ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –   Women across Abia North marked International Women’s Day with a vibrant display of unity, resilience, and determination, as Orji Uzor Kalu celebrated their contributions and reaffirmed his commitment to women’s empowerment.
From the early hours of the day, the atmosphere across communities in Abia North was filled with excitement as women gathered in large numbers to commemorate the global celebration. Dressed in colorful outfits and carrying messages of hope, they marched through strategic locations, highlighting their vital roles in family life, business, and public service.

According to the statement signed by Rubby Obinna, made available to Precise Post on Tuesday, said in his message to mark the occasion, Senator Kalu paid tribute to the women who have shaped his life and career. He reflected on the sacrifices and prayers of his mother, whom he described as the foundation of his values, and also praised his wife and daughters for their inspiration and strength.
“The resilience and wisdom of women remain the backbone of our families and society,” the senator said, emphasizing the importance of creating more opportunities for women and girls to thrive.
The celebration briefly faced tension when a small group of men attempted to disrupt the event, expressing opposition to the growing movement for women’s empowerment. However, the situation was quickly brought under control as women stood united and refused to be intimidated.
Senator Kalu stepped forward with a call for calm, urging all parties to embrace dialogue and mutual respect. He reminded the gathering that empowering women is not a threat to society but a pathway to progress and shared prosperity.
His intervention, combined with the solidarity displayed by the women, helped defuse the situation. The group that attempted to disrupt the celebration eventually withdrew, allowing the event to continue peacefully.
The square erupted in cheers as the women resumed their activities, chanting messages of encouragement and celebrating their achievements.
As the day drew to a close, Senator Kalu reiterated his commitment to advancing gender equality and supporting initiatives that empower women across Abia North and beyond.
He noted that while progress has been made, sustained effort and collective action remain essential to ensuring that every woman and girl has the opportunity to realize her full potential.
