ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  President Bola Tinubu has directed stricter budget discipline and accountability in 2026, warning that Nigeria can no longer tolerate revenue leakages or underperformance by government-owned enterprises (GOEs).

Tinubu stated this while presenting the 2026 appropriation bill to the joint session of the 10th National Assembly on Friday. 19th December 2025.

He announced that all GOEs must meet assigned revenue targets, supported by end-to-end digitisation of revenue collection, real-time performance dashboards, and automated reconciliation systems.

These targets, he said, will form part of performance evaluations for agency heads.

Acknowledging weaknesses in 2025 budget execution, Tinubu pledged that the 2026 budget would be implemented strictly according to approved timelines, with a renewed focus on value-for-money spending and measurable outcomes for citizens.
