ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Bayelsa State Governor and leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has begun efforts to reconcile warring factions within the party in Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dickson disclosed this in a statement posted on his official X handle on Sunday after holding a consultative and reconciliation meeting with NDC leaders, candidates and stakeholders in the state on Saturday evening.
The meeting was led by former Imo State Governor, Chief Achike Udenwa, who serves as the state leader of the party.
According to Dickson, the meeting was “very fruitful,” with participants agreeing to work together towards the victory of all NDC candidates in the state, from the top to the bottom of the ballot.
He said he appreciated the stakeholders for attending the meeting and for recognising the efforts of the party leadership to build a strong and united NDC.
Dickson urged the stakeholders to build on the outcome of the meeting by holding further consultations aimed at achieving “total unity and comprehensive reconciliation” involving every stakeholder in the state.
He also called on all candidates and party leaders to play active roles as instruments of reconciliation.
“The party will also be sending a team of senior officers to Imo to join the reconciliation efforts soonest,” he said.
Dickson commended Udenwa for the leadership he has provided as the NDC’s state leader in Imo and urged him to intensify the reconciliation process with the support of the party’s national leadership.
He expressed optimism that the ongoing efforts would strengthen the party’s unity and improve its prospects in the forthcoming elections.
