2027: ‘Goodluck Jonathan Is Not Interested In Running For President’ – Deji Adeyanju

Human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has claimed that former President, Goodluck Jonathan, is not interested in contesting the 2027 presidential election.
News reports that there have been speculations that Jonathan, a former Governor of Bayelsa State, has agreed to contest against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Some reports also suggested that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been mounting pressure on Jonathan to use its platform to contest the 2027 election against President Bola Tinubu.

However, the Bayelsa State-born politician has kept mum on the matter.

Deji, in a post on his Facebook page on Monday, stated that Jonathan is not interested in the 2027 race and that speculation about his possible return is a distraction.

He wrote, “GEJ is not interested in running for president in 2027. That chapter is closed. Anything you hear about GEJ is a distraction.”

In related news, former Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Anthony Sani, has asserted that it would be a wrong decision for Goodluck Jonathan to accept the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027.

News reports that Sani made this known during an interview with Daily Post, while reacting to speculation that Jonathan has accepted to contest the presidential election in 2027 on the PDP platform.

However, Sani stated that Jonathan is politically savvy and astute enough to know that the main opposition is currently fragmented into former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, purportedly contesting in African Democratic Congress (ADC), former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi contesting in Labour Party, stressing that they may not prevail against the incumbent President, Bola Tinubu.

Sani maintained that, considering the current state of the country, there is nothing in Jonathan’s past performances that suggests he has what it takes to turn the tide around.
