ABUJA (PRECISE POST) — The National Orientation Agency (NOA) says Nigeria recorded major improvements in national security and anti-corruption efforts in October 2025, with a 12% decline in violent crime fatalities and billions recovered from corruption cases.
Speaking at the October Joint Security Press Briefing in Abuja on Monday, NOA Director-General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu said the latest figures reflect stronger intelligence coordination, faster response times, and deeper inter-agency collaboration under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to data presented, arrests of major suspects rose by 33% while rescue operations increased by 40%, especially in Kogi and Zamfara States. Fatalities from violent crimes fell from 210 in September to 185 in October, indicating improved synergy among the military, Police, Department of State Services, and immigration services.
On anti-corruption, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other offences Commission (ICPC) reported recoveries of ₦840 million and $919,000 in October, while the Economic and Financial Crimes Comission (EFCC) recovered a total of ₦566.3 billion and $411.6 million between 2023 and 2025, alongside 1,502 forfeited properties. About ₦100 billion from these funds has been reinvested into the Students Loan and Consumer Credit Schemes.
He further stated that other enforcement agencies also posted strong results: National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control(NAFDAC), seized over 70 containers of counterfeit goods; National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NAFDAC) dismantled 14 drug syndicates and secured 251 convictions, and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) recorded an 11% drop in road fatalities during its Ember Months campaign. Overall enforcement actions increased by 28% in October.
The NOA also reported that its public communication drive reached 32 million Nigerians through radio, television, and digital channels, with fact-checking interventions rising by 40% and grassroots partnerships expanding to over 1,400 community clusters.
“Our message is clear — trust is Nigeria’s strongest security asset,” the DG said, stressing that accurate information strengthens national safety while misinformation endangers lives.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency, citizen engagement, and coordinated governance, adding: “Together we build trust. Together we build peace. Together we build Nigeria.”
