LAGOS – The Police Command in Lagos State, say it has detained a 24-year-old man, suspected to be a member of a cult group and recovered a locally made single-barrel pistol in Mushin area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Lagos.
Adebisi said that the arrest followed a credible information about cult-related activities around Ogunmokun Under-Bridge, Mushin.
“Operatives of the command immediately mobilised a surveillance team to the area, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
“A search of the suspect’s bag led to the recovery of the locally made single-barrel pistol concealed ninside it, ” she said.
According to her, the suspect is currently in police custody and providing useful information to aid the investigation.
The image maker said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fatai Tijani, commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-driven operation.
“CP Tijani, while commending officers, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to disrupt cult-related activities and recover illegal firearms across the state.
“The CP warned cultists and other criminal elements to desist from their activities or face the full wrath of the law, ” Adebisi added.
The spokesperson urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines for prompt police response.
