City Boy Movement Drafts Super Eagles Stars Omeruo, Abdullahi Into National Leadership
The City Boy Movement has made a major sports-politics move with the appointment of two former Super Eagles defenders, Kenneth Omeruo and Shehu Abdullahi, into its national leadership structure.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, October 1, by the movement’s National Director of Media Monitoring and Rapid Response, Bashir Ahmad.
According to Ahmad, who is also a member of the National Working Committee, Shehu Abdullahi has been appointed National Deputy Director of Sports, while Kenneth Omeruo will serve as National Assistant Director of Sports.
“At the City Boy Movement, we are delighted to welcome Shehu Abdullahi and Kenneth Omeruo to the movement,” Ahmad announced.
“Shehu Abdullahi joins us as National Deputy Director of Sports, while Kenneth Omeruo takes on the role of National Assistant Director of Sports. Welcome onboard!”
The appointments bring World Cup experience into the heart of the political support group widely linked to President Bola Tinubu’s support base.

Both players are household names in Nigerian football.
Omeruo, 32, is an AFCON winner. He was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and represented Nigeria at the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups.
Abdullahi, 33, featured for Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and was part of the team that won bronze at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
Their addition is seen as a strategic move by the City Boy Movement to strengthen its sports arm and connect with Nigerian youths through football icons.
The movement is yet to disclose the specific programmes the duo will lead, but sources say they are expected to drive sports development and youth engagement initiatives nationwide.
