ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for the professionalism, integrity and dedication he demonstrated while serving in the state during a challenging period.

Fubara gave the commendation when he received the police chief at Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, describing Disu’s elevation to the highest leadership position in the Nigeria Police Force as a reflection of his distinguished service and commitment to duty.

The governor disclosed the visit in a statement posted on his official X handle, where he acknowledged the police chief’s contributions to security and policing in Rivers State.

According to Fubara, Disu’s previous service in the state provided an opportunity for him to demonstrate the qualities that have continued to distinguish his career in the police.

The governor’s remarks highlighted the importance of professionalism, integrity and dedication in law enforcement, particularly in states where security challenges require sustained cooperation between the government and security agencies.

Fubara also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace, protect lives and property, and sustain security across Rivers State.

He stressed that his government would continue to work with the relevant agencies to promote a peaceful and secure environment for residents, businesses and other stakeholders in the state.

The governor’s assurance underscores the importance of collaboration between state authorities and federal security institutions in addressing security concerns and maintaining public order.

Precise Post recalls that Disu’s visit to Government House also provided an opportunity to reinforce the relationship between the Rivers State Government and the police leadership, particularly in the collective pursuit of lasting peace and stability.

The meeting comes as cooperation between governments and security agencies remains critical to tackling criminality, safeguarding communities and ensuring that residents can go about their lawful activities without fear.

By recognising Disu’s service record and pledging continued institutional support, Fubara reiterated his administration’s position that effective policing and inter-agency cooperation are essential to preserving security and stability in Rivers State.
