…..Ukrainian President Reports Over 200 Strikes on Power Facilities in One Week

ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of continuing attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure despite an announcement by United States President Donald Trump that an energy ceasefire had been secured.
Zelenskyy, in a statement posted on his official X handle on Sunday, said Russian forces continued to launch drone and glide bomb attacks across Ukraine, including a strike on a power plant in Kharkiv.
He described the reported ceasefire agreement as good news but stressed that it must translate into concrete action on the ground.
“Today, there was a statement from the President of the United States that an energy ceasefire has been secured. This is good news for everyone – and it is important that it become reality,” he said.
The Ukrainian leader expressed concern over what he described as continued Russian attacks on the country’s electricity generation and transmission facilities, as well as its oil and gas infrastructure.
According to Zelenskyy, Russia carried out more than 200 strikes on electricity generation and transmission facilities in Ukraine during the preceding week, while another 17 strikes targeted gas and oil facilities.
He further claimed that the attacks had killed more than 150 people and wounded over 700 others.
Zelenskyy said Ukrainian skies remained under attack throughout Sunday, with Russian-made Shahed drones and glide bombs reportedly deployed against targets across the country.
He disclosed that a power plant in Kharkiv was attacked on Sunday evening, raising fresh concerns about the security of Ukraine’s energy supply and the potential humanitarian consequences of continued strikes.
The Ukrainian president also accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of repeatedly rejecting Kyiv’s proposals aimed at reducing hostilities and creating conditions for a peaceful settlement.
According to him, Ukraine had put forward several de-escalation measures, but Moscow had consistently rejected them.
“Ukraine has proposed many de-escalatory steps. Putin had one answer to all of them – ‘nyet’,” Zelenskyy said.
He expressed hope that the Russian leader would eventually respond positively to diplomatic efforts involving the United States and Ukraine, paving the way for what he described as a genuine and dignified peace.
Reaffirming Kyiv’s commitment to ending the conflict, Zelenskyy said Ukraine was prepared for peace but questioned whether Russia shared the same determination.
“Ukraine wants peace. The question is whether Russia does,” he stated.
Zelenskyy added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had received the necessary orders, while Kyiv awaited clear details of the discussions between Washington and Moscow regarding the proposed energy ceasefire.
He urged Putin to honour the position announced by Trump, expressing hope that the US president’s statement would lead to tangible steps towards ending attacks on critical energy infrastructure.
Precise Post recalls that the development comes amid continued diplomatic efforts to reduce hostilities in the Russia-Ukraine war, with energy facilities remaining a major point of concern because of their importance to electricity supply, heating and other essential services.
However, the conflicting signals between the reported ceasefire announcement and the attacks described by Zelenskyy underscore the challenge of translating diplomatic declarations into an effective halt to hostilities.
There was no response from the Russian government contained in Zelenskyy’s statement to the allegations he raised.
