APC Moves Against Alleged Impostor Over Fraudulent Palliatives, Empowerment Materials

by Editor

ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  The All Progressives Congress (APC) is reportedly taking steps to identify and apprehend an alleged impostor accused of impersonating its National Woman Leader, Dr. Mary Idele Alile, to defraud grassroots women and manipulate the distribution of palliatives and empowerment materials meant for party supporters.

The controversy follows allegations that wrappers, food items and other empowerment materials earmarked for women support groups were diverted, repackaged and allegedly offered for sale in open markets rather than distributed to their intended beneficiaries.

However, in a fresh clarification, Amb. Aisha Abdullahi Hudu of the APC Women Support Group Directorate has dissociated Dr. Alile from the alleged fraudulent activities, insisting that the individual implicated in the earlier allegations was not the recognised National Woman Leader but an alleged impersonator operating under her identity.

Hudu also identified Dr. Alile as the Director of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) Women Mobilisation Directorate for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, warning against linking the party’s National Woman Leader with the alleged misconduct of an individual purportedly impersonating her.

She explained that allegations surrounding the diversion of palliatives, the movement of empowerment materials to Edo State and the alleged sale of items meant for beneficiaries should not be attributed to Dr. Alile.

According to her, the controversy arose from an identity-related deception allegedly perpetrated by an individual who falsely presented herself as the APC National Woman Leader.

The clarification is aimed at protecting the reputation of the party’s women leadership and preventing further confusion among grassroots supporters amid growing concerns over the alleged exploitation of party structures and empowerment programmes.

Meanwhile, efforts are reportedly underway at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja to establish the identity of the alleged impersonator, investigate the circumstances surrounding the controversy and determine whether party resources or intended beneficiaries were defrauded.

The party is also expected to identify individuals who may have facilitated the alleged activities, with those found culpable potentially facing referral to relevant security agencies for investigation and possible prosecution.

Dr. Alile’s position as the APC National Woman Leader places her at the centre of the party’s women mobilisation structure, making the clarification particularly significant in separating the recognised party official from the individual accused of impersonation.

The outcome of the investigation is expected to establish the facts, determine whether empowerment materials were unlawfully diverted or commercialised and identify those responsible.

For the APC, the unfolding controversy presents an opportunity to safeguard the integrity of its women leadership, protect grassroots supporters from exploitation and ensure that empowerment materials reach their legitimate beneficiaries.
