Beijing, – ) Comrade Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has reiterated the commitment to write new chapter of socialism with Chinese characteristics, to realise the country’s dream of national rejuvenation.Xi, who was re-elected for the third term of office as General Secretary of CPC on outcome of the just concluded 20th National Congress of the Party that started from Oct. 16 to 23, said this on Sunday in Beijing.He made this known in his maiden address at the meeting between members of the Standing Committee of the Bureau of the 20th CPC’s Central Committee, Chinese and Foreign Journalists on sideline of the official closing ceremony of the party’s National Congress.Xi said, “Thanks to the concerted efforts of the whole party and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, we have completed the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects on schedule and achieved the first centenary goal.‘Now, we are boldly embarking on a new journey to fully build a modern socialist country, marching towards the second centenary goal, and comprehensively advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernisation.“For this cause, countless ancestors have endured arduous struggles and braved all difficulties; we will always remember their dedication and sacrifice in our hearts.“We must immerse ourselves in hard work, fulfill our responsibilities, and take a stronger historical initiative to adapt Marxism to the Chinese context and adapt it to the times.“We will continue to write a new chapter of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and strive to realise the China dream of national rejuvenation.”He advised the Party faithful to adhere to everything for the people and rely on the people, saying we have closely relied on Chinese people to hand over one after another to go down in history.He reiterated that strategic measures had been taken to face the future, adding that the Party leadership would rely on the people to create new historical achievements.“The path is long and the line will come; on the way forward, whether it is high winds and rough seas, the people will always be our most solid support and the most powerful confidence.“We must always stand with the people through thick and thin, stand in solidarity with them, think what they want and follow their advice, and constantly turn their aspirations for a better life into reality.“In the face of new challenges and new tests on the new journey, we must be highly vigilant, always keep sober, cautious in the examination and advance the comprehensive and strict governance of the Party.“So that the century-old Party will continue to glow with vitality in its self-revolution, and will always be the most reliable and strong backbone of the people of China,” he said.He underscored the need for common values of all mankind in the cause of the new era due to modern day global challenges.“The world today faces unprecedented challenges, we have always maintained that the future and destiny of mankind should be grasped and determined by the people of all countries in the world.“As long as we follow the common path, all countries will be able to live in harmony, cooperate for win-win results, and work together to create a better future for the world.‘We will work with people of all countries to carry forward the common values of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom, safeguard world peace and promote world development, and continue to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.“China cannot develop without the world, and the world needs China, through more than 40 years of unremitting efforts in reform and opening-up, we have created two miracles of rapid economic growth and long-term social stability.“At present, the Chinese economy has strong resilience, ample potential and wide room for maneuver, and the long-term positive fundamentals will not change,” Xi added.The general secretary said China’s open door could only get bigger, while promising to deepen reform and open up in an all-round way, promote high-quality development, and create more opportunities globally with Chinese development.He, however, said that the new journey was an expedition full of glory and dreams and the blueprint had been drawn; therefore, the need to work hard, be brave and strive to create a brighter tomorrow.
