ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  –  Rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), citing a renewed commitment to the political vision of Peter Obi.

In a statement released Wednesday on her X handle, Yesufu said the coming days would be critical in shaping Nigeria’s future, stressing that her decision was driven by a “deeper understanding” of the country’s political direction.

She noted that Obi represents the hope and aspirations of Nigerians seeking a functional and inclusive nation.

The activist, known for her role in civic advocacy, said her move to the NDC was in fulfilment of her earlier pledge to support Obi’s leadership.

According to her, she initially joined the ADC in pursuit of that goal but has now transitioned to the NDC to remain aligned with her political convictions.

“Yes, when I give my word, I keep it,” she said, reaffirming her loyalty to Obi’s political movement.
Beyond her defection, Yesufu also declared her intention to contest the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial seat under the NDC platform, marking her formal entry into elective politics.

She stated that she had concluded all obligations with the ADC, ensuring what she described as a “clean transition.”

Yesufu expressed gratitude to members of the party, highlighting her experience serving in various leadership roles, including sub-committee chair, deputy committee chair, and secretary.

Describing her time in the ADC as “invaluable,” she thanked colleagues for their support and reiterated her commitment to national service as she embarks on what she termed a “new beginning.”
