ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, on Sunday joined top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to formally receive the party’s victorious candidates in the just-concluded Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, describing the outcome as a boost for grassroots governance in the nation’s capital.
The Deputy Speaker also charged the chairmen-elect to align their programmes with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasising the need for steadfast commitment, inclusive leadership, and effective service delivery.
Kalu who took to his X handle account (formerly Twitter) @OfficialBenKalu to disclose this, hinted that the event followed the conclusion of the FCT Area Council polls, which saw APC candidates emerge as chairmen-elect across several councils in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, the success recorded in the council elections reflects the growing acceptance of the APC’s policies and leadership direction, both at the national and sub-national levels.

Congratulating the newly elected chairmen, Kalu expressed confidence in their ability to deliver responsive governance and deepen development at the grassroots level. He urged them to see their victory not merely as a political triumph but as a call to service to residents across the nooks and crannies of the FCT.
Kalu reaffirmed the party’s resolve to consolidate on the victory, strengthen its grassroots structures, and ensure that the dividends of democracy are felt by communities across the Federal Capital Territory.
Precise Post recalls that Kalu stood alongside the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda; the National Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru; Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, who chaired the FCT Campaign Council; and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, among other key members of the council, during the reception ceremony.
