ABUJA (PRECISE P0ST) – Former Minister of Aviation , Osita chidoka has responded to the denial of Igbo identity by the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike even as he has defined true essence of Igbo distinct from a Wike’s known traits.
In a reaction released via his X account⁰ on January 26, 2025, Chidoka has weighed in on Wike’s recent assertion that he is not Igbo. Chidoka, emphasizing the deep cultural and moral values tied to Igbo identity, argued that being Igbo extends beyond geographic or ethnic labels.
He said, “Anyone who says he is not Igbo is not Igbo. Igbo is not only an ethnic identity; it is also a way of life.” Chidoka highlighted that being Igbo encompasses values such as respect for truth, loyalty to community, and disdain for avarice and disrespect. He stressed that the Igbo identity is defined by these lived experiences and moral principles, not merely by one’s heritage or location.
In his response, Chidoka expressed that Wike’s denial of his Igbo identity should not be a subject of debate, adding, “If Nyesom Wike says he is not Igbo, I agree with him, and there is no need to argue.” He concluded by asserting his own Igbo identity, stating, “I am Igbo.”
