Cleric Urges Public Officials to Manage Resources with Fear of God

by Arabella Zikora

The Chief Imam of University of Ibadan, Professor Muftau Abdulrahman Oloyede, has charged leaders at various levels to manage the public resources in their custody with the fear of God.

Oloyede made the call on Friday, shortly after he led Muslim Ummah to observe the two Rakah obligatory Eld-Kabir festival.

Muslims across the globe today observed the Eld Kabir festival prayers.

Oloyede, while addressing journalists shortly after the prayers, advised all office holders to manage the resources in their care with the fear of God.

“We should submit ourselves to the will of Allah in every position we find ourselves particularly as Nigeria today is a bit rough economically.

“At the same time, we should submit ourselves to the will of Allah. That is the core message of today’s sermon.

“Our political leaders, those who are in charge of our resources, should dispense the resources well.

“Politicians and those in charge of our affairs, therefore, we call upon them to be righteous in the way they dispense our common patrimony. That is our advice for them.”
