ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has handed over a total sum of N3,936,145,822 to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), marking another milestone in the country’s ongoing fight against economic and financial crimes.
The funds were officially presented on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja. The Secretary to the Commission, Mohammed Hammajoda, represented the EFCC Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, at the brief ceremony, the statement released on the official X handle of EFCC said.
Speaking during the handover, Hammajoda reaffirmed the Commission’s unwavering commitment to tackling corruption, noting that the recovered funds were the result of painstaking investigations and the exposure of fraudulent dealings involving some actors within NNPC Ltd.
He emphasized the sacrifices made by EFCC personnel in the line of duty, stating that the agency remains resolute in serving the nation with courage and integrity.
“On behalf of the Executive Chairman, we will continue to put ourselves on the line to serve over 220 million Nigerians. Many of our colleagues have paid the price, and others will still do so as we carry out our responsibilities with diligence,” he said, while formally presenting the recovered sum.
Receiving the funds on behalf of NNPC Ltd, the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, expressed appreciation to the EFCC for its role in facilitating the recovery.
Dagazau described the development as a reflection of institutional collaboration and unity within the system, noting that the national oil company remains committed to reform and transparency.
“NNPC over the years has had its struggles and challenges, but we have consistently worked to correct the system. This recovery effort is something we are proud of, and we are grateful for the EFCC’s support,” he said.
He further assured that NNPC would continue to collaborate with anti-graft agencies to strengthen accountability and improve operational integrity going forward.
