ILORIN – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has approved the deployment of 2,350 operatives ahead of the Eid-el Fitr celebration in Kwara.
This is contained in a statement by the state Commandant, Mr Bala Bodinga, through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Shola Ayoola on Tuesday, in Ilorin.Bodinga said the move was to protect critical national assets and the safety of residents throughout the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.“The deployment covers all the 16 local government areas of Kwara, with personnel drawn from specialised units, including the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and the Anti-Vandal Unit.“The operation is underpinned by credible intelligence and detailed threat mapping, with priority attention accorded to flashpoints, high-risk corridors and other sensitive locations.“This is to ensure maximum effectiveness and public safety,” he said.The commandant also directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to sustain aggressive patrols to strengthen surveillance and implement proactive response measures within their areas of responsibility.He assured that NSCDC would coordinate closely with other security agencies, local vigilantes, and community members to ensure comprehensive coverage, rapid response, and uninterrupted public safety.Bodinga felicitated with the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan.He urged residents to remain vigilant and support security efforts, by promptly reporting suspicious activities.He warned individuals with criminal intent, saying the command would decisively deal with anyone attempting to undermine public peace and order.
