PORT HARCOURT – Chief Ogbonna Nwuke, a former member of the House of Representatives, has praised Gov. Siminalayi Fubara for his commitment to implementing the Supreme Court ruling on the Rivers political crises.
Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Nwuke described the governor’s invitation to members of the Rivers State House of Assembly as a step in the right direction.
“Gov. Fubara’s invitation to the lawmakers is a bold step towards restoring peace in the state.
“It demonstrates his respect for the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the status of the state lawmakers,” he stated.
Nwuke condemned the legislators for refusing to accept Fubara’s invitation to resolve their differences, describing their stance as unhelpful.
He also criticised those advocating for the governor’s resignation or impeachment, describing such statements as’’troubling and unnecessary.’’
“Gov. Fubara’s commitment to resolving the political crises peacefully should be encouraged,” Nwuke added.
The former federal lawmaker urged Fubara to remain steadfast in his efforts to ensure lasting peace in the state, despite resistance from some quarters. (NAN)
