Grid Collapse: DisCos Begin Process of Load Recovery Across Affected Areas

Power Distribution Companies have begun load recovery following a fresh collapse of the national grid on Saturday.

As of 2:30 p.m., DisCo load had increased to 450 megawatts, MW. The target, the National Grid noted, was 4,800 MW.

Below is the latest update on DisCos load:

Abuja DisCo – 80 MW

Benin DisCo – 70 MW

Eko DisCo – 70 MW

Enugu DisCo- 0 MW

Ibadan DisCo – 100 MW

Ikeja DisCo – 130 MW

Jos DisCo- 0 MW

Kaduna DisCo- 0 MW

Kano DisCo- 0 MW

PHarcourt DisCo- 0 MW

The grid collapsed for the third time early Saturday morning, with many states reporting total blackouts.

Data obtained from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org), revealed that the grid recorded an unprecedented zero Megawatts (MW) as of 8:16 am today.

However, the spokesperson for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Ndidi Mbah later reacted, saying that power had been restored.
