Huawei Must Invest More in Nigeria’s Youth, Says Danbazzau After Tour of Digital Innovation Hub

ABUJA (PRECISE POST)  — Former Chief of Army Staff, Retired Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Danbazzau has called on global technology giant Huawei to deepen its investment in Nigeria’s youth by creating more opportunities for skills development and employment in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.
Danbazzau made the call after visiting the Huawei EBC Exhibition Centre, where he was exposed to a range of cutting-edge technologies in smart governance, digital power systems, cloud computing, telecommunications infrastructure, and electric vehicle (EV) innovations.
Describing the visit as an eye-opening experience, the ex-military chief who took to his X handle to disclose this on Tuesday, said the exhibition showcased state-of-the-art digital facilities and demonstrated how emerging technologies are shaping the future of governance, energy, transportation, and business operations.
He noted that Huawei remains the largest telecommunications vendor in Nigeria, supplying critical infrastructure to major network operators, including MTN Nigeria, while also providing enterprise solutions, cloud services, and digital power systems across the country.
Danbazzau praised Huawei’s remarkable growth story, noting that the company was founded in 1988 and commenced operations in Nigeria in 1999, attributing its global success to discipline, determination, and selflessness.
While commending the company’s contributions to Nigeria’s digital transformation, he urged Huawei to channel more of its resources toward empowering the country’s growing youth population.
According to him, creating opportunities for young Nigerians should form part of the company’s commitment to giving back to the society from which it has generated significant business success.
He stressed that the future labour market would increasingly favour individuals equipped with ICT competencies, making digital skills development essential for national growth and economic competitiveness.
Danbazzau therefore encouraged Huawei to expand initiatives that provide training, mentorship, and employment pathways for Nigerian youths, emphasizing that such investments would help prepare the next generation for technology-driven careers.
