KANO (Precise Post)  –   The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (RMK) has called for safety reforms as the Farm Centre GSM Market in Kano has been reportedly gutted by fire.

Kwankwaso made the  call on Sunday following a report of a devastating fire at the Farm Centre GSM Market in Kano which left businesses in ruins and the community in mourning.

In a statement release on his X handle, Kwankwaso said the inferno, reportedly triggered by a battery explosion, erupted during the Eid celebrations, amplifying the emotional toll of the tragedy.

Reacting to the incident, RMK expressed deep sympathy for those affected, calling the fire “a test from Allah” and urging the community to turn to prayers for mercy and protection. “For a tragedy like this to happen while we are in the midst of Eid celebrations is indeed a test from Allah. It also calls for total submission to His will,” he said.

RMK also extended his solidarity to the market’s leadership and the Kano State Government, emphasizing the urgent need for stricter safety measures. “They must address safety in our markets by enacting effective regulations for the handling of energy production equipment,” he stated.

The tragedy has reignited conversations around the dangers of electrical equipment in densely populated commercial hubs and the importance of preventive policies to safeguard lives and livelihoods.
