Abakaliki — Mr. Osborne Umahi, son of Nigeria’s Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, has picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination form to contest the chairmanship election in Ohaozara Local Government Area ahead of the August 2026 council polls.
Osborne, the minister’s first son, obtained the form at the APC State Secretariat in Abakaliki, accompanied by party stakeholders, youth groups, and supporters from Ohaozara LGA.
He was received by members of the APC State Executive Committee, led by the party’s state chairman, Mr. Stanley Okoro-Emegha.
Speaking at the secretariat, Okoro-Emegha described Osborne Umahi as an intelligent and capable young politician and businessman, expressing confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership and move Ohaozara Local Government Area forward.
In his remarks, Osborne thanked the people of Ohaozara for nominating him to contest the chairmanship position, pledging not to betray the confidence placed in him if elected.
He said youth empowerment would be a major priority of his administration, noting that his age gives him firsthand understanding of the challenges facing young people in the area.
“My priority will be youth empowerment and the introduction of innovative programmes that will uplift young people and create opportunities for them,” he said.
Osborne also promised to sustain the infrastructure development legacy associated with his father’s tenure as governor, assuring residents that his leadership would focus on projects with direct impact across the local government.
