ABUJA – Human Rights Activist, Comrade Shehu Sani has kicked against the planned move to establish a new Hospital for Senators and House of Reps members, describing it as a complete waste of public resources.

Fumed by the inability of the 10th National Assembly to align with the state of the economy in choosing their priorities, Shehu Sani noted that he is aware that there is an in house clinic equipped for such services of which Lawmakers hardly patronise.

The Kaduna born politician stated this on his X account while reacting to the remarks by the Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Thursday that the National Assembly will establish an ultra-modern Medical Centre for Senators and House of Representatives and staffers of the federal parliament.

Precise Post recalls that Akpabio made the disclosure in his address to welcome his colleagues back from the eid-el-Kabir recess.

He said the planned hospital would be constructed in such a way that it would be accessible to all the lawmakers and staffers of the National Assembly for their health challenges.

According to him, “In this our second legislative year, it is our plan to establish a state-of-the-art medical facility in close proximity to us to serve the distinguished senators, honourable members, National Assembly staff, and our esteemed guests.

“This initiative aims to provide functional and effective healthcare for all,” he said.

Further recall that Nigerians are lamenting that despite the visible hunger and poverty across the country, this present 10th National Assembly and indeed the federal government have exhibited high insensitivity, callousness and disconnect to the plightsvof the masses.
