Human Rights Activist and a dedicated fighter for freedom and justice, Comrade Shehu Sani has reacted to the appointment of Ali Nuhu as the Director General of Nigerian Film Corporation, describing it as a square peg in a square hole.
Senator Shehu Sani who was a federal lawmaker that represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the 8th National Assembly, said Nuhu’s appointment by President Bola Tinubu is a diversion from the past where politicians are appointed into positions that should ideally be reserved for professionals.
The Kaduna born-politician who stressed that the nation hopes to benefit from his experience, disclosed this on his X account (formerly twitter) @ShehuSani said:
“Ali Nuhu’s appointment as DG of the Nigerian Film Corporation is commendable. He is a square peg in a square hole. This is a diversion from the past where politicians are appointed into positions that should ideally be reserved for professionals. The nation hopes to benefit from his experience.
Wish him well.”
Precise Post recalls that Ali Nuhu was among the eleven (11) persons unveiled yesterday as new Chief Executive Officers by President Tinubu to man the agencies under the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy.
The announcement was contained in a statement released on Friday by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
Precise Post recalls that Tinubu appointed Tola Akerele, an influential Interior designer, entrepreneur, Gallery curator and Hotel owner in Lagos as Director-General, National Theatre.
Other appointees are, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, Director-General, National Films and Censors Board; Mr. Obi Asika, Director-General, National Council for Arts and Culture; and Aisha Adamu Augie, Director-General, Centre for Black and African Arts and Culture
They also included Ekpolador-Ebi Koinyan Chief Conservator, National War Museum; Ahmed Sodangi, Director-General, National Gallery of Art; and Chaliya Shagaya, Director-General, National Institute of Archeology and Museums Studies
The President also named Hajiya Khaltume Bulama Gana as the Artistic Director, National Troupe of Nigeria; Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, Director-General, National Institute for Cultural Orientation; Ali Nuhu Managing Director, Nigerian Film Corporation and Ramatu Abonbo Mohammed as the Director General, National Commission for Museums and Monuments.
The President mandated the appointees to discharge their duties in accordance with the highest standards of professionalism, diligence, and patriotism with a view to making the creative sector more vibrant and robust.
