ABUJA (PRECISE POST) The newly appointed Authority Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Mr. Rabiu Umar, has unveiled his strategic vision for the agency, pledging to strengthen regulation, improve operational efficiency and promote professionalism across the organisation.
Umar disclosed this during his maiden Town Hall meeting with staff at the Authority’s headquarters, while regional and field offices participated virtually.
Addressing employees during the engagement, the NMDPRA boss said his administration would be driven by the principles of being “Firm in Regulation, Fast in Execution and Fair in Conduct.”
He stressed the need for dedication, discipline and collaboration among staff in advancing the mandate of the Authority, adding that accountability, transparency and excellence would remain central to the agency’s operations.
According to him, the new leadership is committed to repositioning the Authority for greater effectiveness in service delivery and regulatory oversight within Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
The Town Hall meeting also served as a platform for interaction and engagement between management and staff, with discussions focused on aligning workers with the administration’s goals for the growth and transformation of the Authority.
Precise Post recalls that this coming after the Authority Chief Executive on Monday paid a courtesy visits to the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, as part of ongoing engagements to advance the Authority’s regulatory mandate.
During the visits, the ACE sought the Ministers’ continued support and guidance in delivering on the Authority’s strategic objectives. The Ministers congratulated the ACE on his appointment and assured him of their unwavering support as he navigates the responsibilities of the office.
Mr Rabiu expressed appreciation for the warm reception and confidence reposed in him, noting that he was highly impressed by the depth of expertise, professionalism and dedication of the workforce within the Authority. He pledged to harness the wealth of talent across the NMDPRA to strengthen regulatory performance, drive innovation and advance the growth of Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum sector.
