Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial Resumes Today as Judge Limits Court Attendance

by Joy: News Admin

The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), resumes today at the Federal High Court in Abuja under strict attendance restrictions.

Justice James Omotosho, who is presiding over the high-profile case, has issued an order allowing only ten individuals from the defence team to enter the courtroom.

The approved list includes eight Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs): Kanu G. Agabi, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, Paul Erokoro, Emeka Etiaba, Mela Audu Nunghe, Dr. Joseph Akubo, Uchenna Njoku, and Aloy Ejimakor.

In addition, Hon. Obi Aguocha, a member of the House of Representatives, and Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, have been cleared to attend.

This development follows the closure of the federal government’s case against Kanu. The defence team has been directed to submit its written address on a no-case submission within 14 days.

Meanwhile, journalists and members of the public remain barred from observing the proceedings, sparking debate over transparency in the high-profile trial.

As the trial continues, stakeholders and human rights groups are closely monitoring developments, given the political sensitivity surrounding the IPOB leader’s case.
