A Note to Distinguished Senator Yayi

On the recent extension of bursaries and scholarship awards to our children in Ogun West studying in higher educational institutions across the country, and based on the consideration of the high levels of challenges confronted by our people in our quest for education and educational development, and your expression of the same concerns based on your personal experience while pursuing your educational goals, I must not fail to express my profound gratitude to you as an individual, as a critical stakeholder in the provision and delivery of Education in our country and in thanksgiving to you, Sir, on behalf of our sons and daughters who were direct beneficiaries of your acts of nobility once again yesterday.

Your extension of such huge expenditure towards the support of Educational advancement of Ogun West generally and the students directly will go down in the annals of history of ’empowerment efforts’ as one perhaps unprecedented, not only in the history of Ogun West but perhaps in Ogun State and Nigeria especially when viewed against the backdrop of the quantum of funds disbursed as a whole and at once.

I join in the reining of accolades, singing of serenades and praise singing in honour and appreciation of our distinguished Senator Olamilekan Yayi for his magnanimity, benevolence and unparalleled representation so unequivocally trumpeted in his acts of love and support for our students and indeed educational development in general. Indeed, one cannot but underscore the fact that Senator Yayi’s roll out of scholarships, bursaries and support for hardworking women and other operators of small and medium scale enterprises yesterday is another in the retinue of such efforts such as road construction, building of modern classrooms including storey buildings in our schools etc across Ogun West.

In unambiguous terms, I dare say our dear homestead, nay Yewa/Awori land, is blessed to have this illustrious son, Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan Yayi, PhD honoris causa , as our Senator. His strides in the Senate of the Federal Republic especially as Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, has lifted Ogun West to a status that is all time higher than ever. The seeds you’re showing now will only better be appreciated in the next few years when the measures of our quantity and quality of graduates which today are not mean by any standard, become multiplied.

God bless you, Dear Brother, Distinguished Senator, Worthy Son of the Soil and our Unmistaken Choice.

Prof. Bamikole O. OGUNLEYE
