Adebayo Adedamola, widely known as Fryo, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State following Tuesday’s primary election in Osogbo.
The exercise, held at Adolak Hall, came a day after Governor Ademola Adeleke publicly resigned his membership of the party and withdrew from the contest.
According to the chairman of the PDP electoral committee, Humphrey Abba, 957 of the 990 accredited delegates participated in the primary. Twenty votes were declared void.
Announcing the result, Abba said Adedamola polled 919 votes to secure the party’s ticket.
“Following the successful voting, I am pleased to announce that 20 void votes were recorded. One of the aspirants withdrew earlier. The candidate that got the remaining votes is Adebayo Adedamola with 919 votes and stands elected and returned,” he declared.
