ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Athena Election Observatory (AEO) has reported that its preliminary tabulation of results from 3,281 of Osun State’s 3,763 polling units showed Accord maintaining a lead of 59,586 votes over the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The update was released by former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, on his X handle on Saturday.
According to the observatory, its figures were based on polling-unit result forms available on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal, IReV, but remained preliminary and unverified.
The AEO said 482 polling units were yet to be captured in its system as of 11:09 p.m., adding that it was closely monitoring the pace of result uploads to the INEC portal.
The observatory disclosed that the last IReV upload it observed from INEC was at 8:48 p.m., with no additional polling-unit result uploaded for more than two hours as of 11:09 p.m.
It said 471 polling units were still outstanding on the IReV portal at the time of the update.
“At this stage, we are making no inference as to the reason for the pause,” the AEO stated, adding that the IReV upload status and outstanding polling units would remain under close observation.
The observatory said its monitoring team would continue working through the night to capture, verify and archive polling-unit result forms as they become available.
The AEO stressed that all its figures remained preliminary and unverified, noting that only INEC had the statutory authority to collate and declare the official result of the governorship election.
