ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Presidential candidate of the National Demicratic Congress (NDC) abd former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi has disowned a purported letter circulating on social media, allegedly addressed to the Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, describing the document as false and malicious.
Obi, in a disclaimer posted on his official X handle on Saturday, said the purported letter, which allegedly touched on political and financial matters in Anambra State, was fabricated by individuals seeking to mislead members of the public.
According to him, the signature appended to the document was also forged.
He urged members of the public and the media to disregard the publication, stressing that his attention remained focused on issues of national development and accountability.
Obi said his commitment was to working towards a better future for Nigerians rather than engaging in what he described as “cheap fabrications.”
He wrote:
“My attention has been drawn to a fake letter circulating on social media, purportedly written by me to His Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha, concerning political and financial matters in Anambra State.
This document is entirely false, malicious, and a fabrication by mischievous elements aimed at misleading the public. Furthermore, the signature appended to the letter is completely forged.
I urge the public and media to disregard this spurious publication. My focus remains steadfastly on issues of national development, accountability, and building a better future for our people — never on cheap fabrications.
Precise Post recalls that the disclaimer comes amid the circulation of the purported correspondence on social media, with Obi maintaining that neither the letter nor the signature was genuine.
