Quds Day: Iran Embassy Says Occupation, Injustice Cannot Last Forever

Diplomatic statement stresses solidarity with Palestine and condemns ongoing conflict

The embassy made the declaration in a statement released to mark the 2026 Quds Day, which is being observed across the world on Friday, March 13.

Quds Day, observed annually on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, was first proclaimed by the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ruhollah Khomeini, to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Palestine in their conflict with Israel.

The statement released by the Iranian embassy noted that for decades, the Palestinian issue has stood at the center of international attention as a symbol of resistance against occupation, discrimination, and the systematic violation of fundamental human rights.

“The prolonged occupation of Palestinian lands, repeated military assaults, the destruction of infrastructure, and the continued suffering of civilians have created a humanitarian tragedy that has deeply shaken the conscience of the world,” it said.

However, the statement observed that the resilience and steadfastness of the Palestinian people demonstrate that the pursuit of freedom and justice cannot be extinguished by force.

“Despite decades of pressure and hardship, the Palestinian cause continues to resonate across the globe as a universal struggle for dignity, self-determination, and basic human rights.

“Quds Day therefore represents the collective voice of nations and peoples who reject injustice and oppression. It is an opportunity to reaffirm the principle that the international system cannot remain indifferent to the persistent violations of international law and humanitarian norms,” the statement said.

The Iranian embassy noted that what has unfolded in Palestine over many decades is not merely a regional conflict. It described the situation as a profound test for the credibility of international institutions and the global commitment to human rights and justice.

The Iranian embassy pointed out that in recent years, concerns over regional stability have grown as the policies of the Israeli regime extend beyond the occupied Palestinian territories.

“Military actions, acts of violence, and repeated violations of the sovereignty of other countries have increasingly contributed to instability across the wider region,” the statement said, adding that recent developments have once again highlighted the concerns.

Referring to the ongoing military campaign against Iran by the United States and Israel, the statement said, “While the Palestinian people continue to face immense hardship, aggressive actions have also targeted other countries in the region, including attacks against Iran and repeated military assaults on Lebanon.”

The embassy described the military action by the US and Israel as a clear violation of the fundamental principles of international law, including respect for national sovereignty and the prohibition of the use of force in international relations.

The statement stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently emphasized that safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity is the legitimate right of every nation. “At the same time, Iran has repeatedly underscored that it does not seek escalation or conflict in the region, but it will firmly defend its security and its people against any form of aggression.”

Condemning the US-Israeli military campaign, the embassy observed that history has shown that policies based on coercion and military pressure cannot bring sustainable peace.

It noted that on the contrary, such approaches often deepened instability and prolong conflicts.

“Attempts to impose political realities through force ultimately encounter the resistance of nations determined to defend their rights and independence,” the statement said, insisting that a sustainable and just future for the region can only be achieved through respect for the rights of peoples and an end to occupation.

The international community and “responsible” global institutions were urged to play a more active role in preventing violations of international law, and protecting human rights.

Silence in the face of injustice not only prolongs the suffering of affected populations but also undermines the very foundations of the international order, the statement warned.

According to the embassy, Quds Day also serves as a powerful reminder that the Palestinian cause remains a central concern for the Muslim world and for many freedom-loving people across the globe.

“Each year, millions of individuals from different cultures, religions, and societies raise their voices in support of the Palestinian people and call for an end to occupation and the realization of their legitimate rights. The people of the region have repeatedly demonstrated that they will not remain silent in the face of injustice and aggression.

“The resilience of the Palestinian people and the broad support they receive from nations across the region reflect the fact that the Palestinian issue is not merely a political matter—it is a deeply human and moral cause that speaks to the conscience of the world.

“In this context, Quds Day acquires renewed importance. It is an opportunity to renew a collective commitment to justice, freedom, and human dignity—principles for which the Palestinian people have made immense sacrifices and continue to pursue with remarkable determination.

“The message of Quds Day remains clear and enduring: occupation and injustice cannot last forever. The determination of nations to achieve freedom and justice will ultimately prevail. The awakened conscience of humanity continues to stand alongside the Palestinian people, sustaining hope for a more just and peaceful future,” the statement added.
