ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Stakeholders from various government institutions convened yesterday at the National Orientation Agency (NOA) head office to explore strategies for promoting positive narratives in communicating the services of government agencies.
The meeting, part of the NOA’s counter-narrative programme titled “Nigeria Has Happened to Me,” focused on fostering a more personal and relatable approach to engaging citizens with government services to improve their popularity and acceptance, the statement signed by the Deputy Director, Communications & Media, Paul Odenyi made available to Precise Post on Wednesday said.
In his address, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the Director-General of NOA, explained that the initiative aims to counter the negative narrative surrounding Nigeria and highlight the success stories resulting from government interventions. He underscored NOA’s vast reach, with over 818 offices nationwide, which allows the agency to influence and connect with citizens across the country.
The project specifically targets the widespread negative perception associated with the phrase “Nigeria Happened to Me,” commonly used by many, especially youth, to express disillusionment with the country’s systems.
Mallam Issa-Onilu emphasized the need to counter this sentiment by sharing real-life success stories of Nigerians whose lives have been positively impacted by government initiatives.
To further this goal, NOA has partnered with 50 media companies to produce five-minute documentaries showcasing the impact of government policies in various sectors, including student loans, agricultural support, housing, security, and healthcare.
These documentaries will feature testimonials from beneficiaries, demonstrating how government programs have transformed their lives for the better.
