The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubkar lll, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on nationwide road initiatives, especially the 1068km Sokoto-Badagary super highway project which according to the monarch will open economic potentials of the state.
The paramount ruler, who stated this while giving his remarks at the 3rd annual general meeting of the Sokoto Professional Network (SPN) held at the Sokoto Guest lnn over the weekend, also praised the president on the Sokoto-Zaria road project.
Represented at the meeting by the District Head of Gagi, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Umar Jabbi, the Sultan also said the projects when completed would go a long way in boosting the socio-economic status of the state by unlocking the potentials, improve living standards, and reduce poverty.
The Sultan Sa’ad commended the leadership of SPN for its initiatives aimed at empowering youths in Sokoto state.
He praised the efforts in organising capacity-building workshops and trainings for over 1,000 youths in solar installation, entrepreneurship, and career guidance, and promoting sustainable professionalism.
Earlier in his welcome address, chairman of SPN, Engr. Zayyanu Tambari Yabo, highlighted the organisation’s readiness to collaborate with anybody on youth development to promote sustainable development.
The chairman said SPN has over 700 active members that cut across different professional disciplines, including professors, doctors, students, entrepreneurs, mechanics, artistes and craftsmen.
He said SPN has within the two years of experience trained over 1000 youths on different skills which include solar installations and photovoltic repairs and each trainee was provided with complete solar repair kits, adding that some of the trainees are now employers of labour.
