By Mohammad Tijjani Kaduna – The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the kidnap of six persons in Rijana village along Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Sep. 7.The Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo said in a press statement issued on Monday in Kaduna that two of the victims were however abandoned by the bandits. According to him, the kidnappers who were in military uniform intercepted a commercial bus registered ABJ 905 XC around 11:30pm at a point near Rijana and took away the victims.“Patrol teams within the axis were quickly mobilised to the scene and engaged the hoodlums as a result of which one Rofiat Tijjani, aged 17, and one other person, both of Tudunwada Kaduna, were released by the criminals in their desperate attempt to escape.“Both victims were taken to the Rijana police station alongside the vehicle.“Efforts are still on to rescue the remaining four victims and arrest the criminals,” Sabo said.(NAN)

Police Recover Battle Axes, knife From 2 Suspects Arrested At Imota, Ikorodu

By Oladapo Udom Lagos – The Imota Police Station in Ikorodu area of Lagos State  has recovered two battle axes and a knife from two suspects:   Emmanuel Chinonso, 21, and Thomas Israel, 20,  alsoe suspected to be members of  the ‘Eiye’ Confraternity. This is contained in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer ( PRO) , DSP Bala Elkana,  and made available to newsmen in Lagos on Sunday. Elkana said that the Imota Police Station on Friday evening received an information from a reliable source that some cultists on Police wanted -list were sighted in Igbalu community. Recovered items from the suspects “Operatives of Operation Crush attached to the division were promptly deployed in  the area and arrested two suspects namely: Emmanuel Chinonso and Thomas Israel. “Two battle axes, a knife and one beret belonging to ‘Eiye’ Confraternity were found on the suspects who confessed to being  members of the confraternity. “They said that their gang had been  responsible for a series of violent attacks recorded in Imota ,” Elkana said. Police Kill Lagos Protester As Mob Burns Van Over Xenophobia (Photo)

Lagos – A protester in Lagos has reportedly been killed by the police as an angry mob attacked their van.  A protester has been reportedly killed while protesting at the Circle Mall, Jakande, in the Lekki area of Lagos State. It was gathered that the protester was reportedly shot dead by men of the Nigeria Police Force. A report by the Punch revealed that a police van was set ablaze by an angry mob that stormed the mall. A video posted on Twitter and confirmed by some residents showed a body on the floor as gunshots rent the air. Another video showed a police van burning.  A third clip filmed by a motorist showed a man masked with a handkerchief wielding a cutlass.“What is happening? Why are all these boys doing like this? Police Suspends Recruitment Of 10,000 Constables

Abuja – The ongoing recruitment of 10,000 constables across the states has been suspended by the police.   The Police Service Commission has suspended the ongoing process of recruitment of 10,000 Constables into the Nigeria Police Force. The Commission explained that the suspension would enable it finalise the remaining stage of the exercise. The Commission also urged candidates to await further directives from it.  This is contained in a statement in Abuja on Friday by the Commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani. The statement reads: “The Police Service Commission has enjoined applicants for recruitment into the Constable Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force to exercise some patience as it finalises the remaining stage of the recruitment exercise.“The Commission also wishes to advise all the candidates who participated in the recruitment exercise up to the aptitude test, to ignore any list or information on the exercise emanating from outside the Commission.  The statement continues: “It is the constitutional responsibility of the Commission to recruit Nigerians into the Police Force whether as Constables, Cadet Inspectors or Cadet ASPs and the Commission is not ready to abdicate this very important mandate.“The …

Kebbi: Police rescues 3-year-old girl from female Kidnappers

By Shuaibu Tatu Birnin Kebbi – The Police in Kebbi have rescued a three-year-old girl, Saudatu Haruna, from the hands of some female kidnappers. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Danjuma told newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday that the little girl was abducted since June 28 in Jega local government area of the state. Danjuma said that two women had been arrested while their accomplices were being tracked. He gave the names of the suspects arrested as Asiya Abdullahi, 25, and Atika Atiku, 35, both residents of Naima area of Jega. The suspects were said to have taken the girl from her parent’s house also located in Naima area of Jega. ”When we got the report, the command mobilized Puff Adder personnel and succeeded in rescuing the three-year-old victim from the hands of the kidnappers. “The suspects have confessed to the crime and they will soon be charged to court,’’ he said.
