ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Presidential candidate of Labour Party in the February 25 2023 genneral election, Peter Obi has reacted to the recent terrorist attacks in Borno state, saying that fight against insecurity is not just a government challenge; it requires a united front from all stakeholders – community leaders, religious leaders, civil society, and every citizen.
The former two-term Governor of Anambra state who took to his X account handle to make the call, said that the recent terrorist attack and ambush in Borno State, which claimed precious lives and left many missing, is a grim reminder of the persistent security challenges facing our nation.
He urged the government to be resolute and to deploy all available resources to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.
“This tragedy highlights the urgent need for the government to intensify efforts to secure the country. The fight against terrorism must be resolute, and we urge those in authority to deploy all available resources to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice. Our security personnel on the frontlines must be adequately equipped, supported, and motivated to tackle these threats effectively.”

To the families of the victims of the attacks Obi said, “no words can fully convey the depth of our sorrow for your loss. Your pain is shared by all Nigerians, and our thoughts and prayers are with you in this moment of profound grief.”
Together, we must remain steadfast in our resolve to build a secure and prosperous Nigeria, Obi added.
Precise Post recalls that on Sunday, 12 January 2025, one armed militia group suspected to be Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists attacked some farmers and fishermen inside Dumba community, near Baga at Kukawa local government area of Borno State, northeast Nigeria.
In a statement released by the commissioner for Information and Internal Security of Borno State, Prof Usman Tar, said that the terrorists killed about 40 farmers in that attack. Adding that they are still looking for many people that escaped the attack to return home and reunite with their families.
Thr Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum condwnmed the attack in strong terms and called on officers and men of Operation Hadin Kai to go after the terrorist operating between Dumba and Lake Chad Area and apprehend them.
