ABUJA – The Nigerian Army and other security forces have sustained nationwide counter-terrorism and internal security operations, eliminating scores of terrorists, rescuing captives, and disrupting logistics networks across several states.

An operational report made available to newsmen said the operations covered April 21 to April 22 under Operation HADIN KAI, FANSAN YAMMA, SAFE HAVEN, and DELTA SAFE across the North-East, North-West, North-Central, and Niger Delta regions.

In the North-East, the report said the troops under Operation HADIN KAI repelled coordinated terrorist attacks in Borno, clearing ISWAP/JAS enclaves along Bama–Gwoza axis during sustained offensive operations and patrols.

It added that troops successfully fought through an ambush by terrorists and subsequently foiled an attempt to re-abduct nine rescued captives from Mandara Mountains in Gwoza.

According to the report, troops engaged terrorists and restored security while ensuring victims were safely reunited with their families.

“They also repelled indirect fire attacks targeting military positions around Gwoza axis, responding with counter-fire that neutralised threats and prevented infiltration attempts into defensive operational locations by terrorists.

“In separate operations, troops arrested suspected logistics suppliers conveying food items, fuel, and other materials concealed for delivery to terrorist enclaves operating within border communities in Borno,” he said.

In the North-West, the report said troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA intensified offensive operations in Zamfara, destroying terrorist camps in Yankuzo, Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA), following artillery bombardment and close air support engagements.

It added that troops also foiled kidnapping attempts in Maru LGA, rescuing abducted victims, while engaging terrorists in Sokoto and Katsina States, recovering weapons and restoring security in affected rural communities.

In the North-Central region, military said troops under Operation Enduring Peace responded to security incidents in Plateau, recovering cattle linked to suspected farm destruction and restoring calm in affected communities.

“In the Niger Delta, troops under Operation DELTA SAFE uncovered illegal crude oil refining sites in Rivers, dismantling drum ovens, crude stockpiles, and other illicit petroleum processing equipment,” it added.

Military authorities reaffirmed commitment to sustaining nationwide operations, degrading terrorist capabilities, denying criminals freedom of action, and strengthening civil-military cooperation for lasting peace and stability nationwide. (NAN)
