Abuja (Precise Post) – The founder of Fame foundation, an NGO based on gender equality and fight against women violence thru Sports and education, Erelu Aderonke Ogunleye Bello has aired her view on the need to have gender equality as campaign against gender based violence equality.
She made her option known to Precisepost.ng during an football tournament organised by her foundation to mark International women’s day. Tagged “Generation Equality International Football Tournament’. Mrs Bello a seasoned Journalist, made known that proceeds from the tournament will be used to sponsor ten girls from an LEA primary school and place them on scholarship.
‘As you can see today is International women’s day and we are organizing this generation equality international football tournament. Where women from all works of life Europe, UK, America, East Africa and West Africa come together to play a tournament to celebrate women’s day.
As we know Nigeria is a country that are heterogeneous in nature. We have our differences in terms of ethnic language, religion and all that. The only thing that brings Nigeria together is Sports (Football).
The reason we use football to drive social change in Nigeria and call for gender equality and to campaign against gender based violence equality. Proceeds from the event was used to sponsor ten girls from an LEA primary school on full scholarship”. She noted
Ten girls were given scholarship certificates at the stadium as promised by the founder.
Notable dignitries that grace the occasion was Minister for Women Affairs Mrs Paullen Tallen, ex-football internationals Dan (the bull) Amokachi, Emmanuel Babayaro and so many others.
